Guy Harvey was born in Germany in 1955 while his father served as a Gunnery Officer in the British Army. In 1964, the family moved to Jamaica and this is where his passion for the sea and its inhabitants was born.
The hours that he spent diving and fishing along the island nation's southern coast would fuel an obsession that would lead him to be one of the world's most prominent conservationists and a fierce advocate in the protection of the environment focusing on the Earth's oceans, fish populations and delicate reef systems.
His Guy Harvey Research Institute at Nova Southeastern University in Florida and the Guy Harvey Foundation are providing the scientific analysis needed to understand and protect Dr Harvey's beloved underwater world.
